I am a board certified psychiatrist. I completed my medical education at the University of Mumbai. I continued my medical training in Adult Psychiatry at the University of Texas at Houston before finishing with a focus on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry through Stanford University.
My interest in psychiatry began in Medical school. After relocating to the United States, I worked in research for the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Stanford. While there, I assessed the effects of trauma in families with premature babies and chronically ill children. After this experience, I dedicated my career to helping children and their families.
My cultural background and formal training in America offer a unique perspective for patients. I feel the greatest struggle for mental health professionals all over the world is overcoming the stigma of mental illness. Embarrassment often leads to reluctance to seek or maintain treatment. I promote acceptance through knowledge and understanding, and help unique individuals overcome their fears through special therapeutic and nonjudgmental approaches.
